We reported in January that Sprint would finally start a lineup of Windows Phone 8 handsets with one Samsung device and one HTC device, but that’s as specific as it got. Now we have the two devices rumored for release soon on the carrier: the Samsung Ativ S and the HTC Tiara, the latter of which remains presently unannounced.
The Samsung Ativ S is for the most part a high-end device. It sports a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720p display, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, 8MP in the back, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD slot, 1GB of RAM, and a 2,300mAh battery.
The HTC Tiara doesn’t have specs quite as impressive, which hints that it’ll probably be a more affordable device. It features a 4.3-inch Super LCD2 800×480 resolution display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1.6MP front-facing camera, 8MP in the back, 8GB of internal storage, and a smaller 1,800mAh battery. Bare in mind that since the Tiara is unannounced, HTC might choose to unveil it with a different name.
These two phones will make Sprint the last major U.S. carrier to sell Windows Phone 8 devices. The line will most likely expand over the course of 2013, although the pace of expansion presumably depends on how well the Samsung Ativ S and HTC Tiara sell. Be on the look-out for these handsets coming soon.
