Microsoft released an updated version of its Lync app for Android. If you recall, the original Lync application for Google’s mobile OS was released in December 2011, which was before Ice Cream Sandwich was unveiled, hence it has the outdated UI (that frankly looks ugly). The new version is improved in that front, featuring a completely revamped user interface that even reminds us on Windows Phone (and we find is pretty cool).
Functionality wise, all of the capabilities you expect from Lynx are here, so you can chat, video chat and collaborate with other Lync users while on the go. Some of the features will require the Lync server though we’re not sure which ones are those. Moreover, while the app is free to download you’ll need a “validly licensed copy of Microsoft Lync Server or Office 365/Lync Online.” Just so you know.
