ZTE is launching a new, low-cost quad-core smartphone in its own backyard. The V965 may not ever be released in the West and there is a reason to feel sorry for that. Although it’s not as powerful as the company’s flagship device, Grand S, it does deliver an exceptional value for the money.

You see, not many Android smartphones pack a 4.5-inch screen and quad-core processor for $177 (RMB 1099). Sure enough, that screen isn’t an HD one (it has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels), the device packs only 512MB of RAM, and that quad-core processor isn’t made by Qualcomm or Nvidia — rather it’s MediaTek’s MT6589 clocked at 1.2GHz.

Rest of the specs include a 5-megapixel camera on the back, 2-megapixel front-facing one, 3G + Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, 2,000mAh battery, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.

I’ve told you it’s a great deal, so if you want the ZTE V965 for yourself, proceed to TMall or JD.com from where you can grab your unit for the mentioned 177 bucks…
