Apple may have tipped its hand when it comes to the rumored integration of its fingerprint scanning technology into the next generation iPhone. AppleInsider discovered a new job listing from Apple looking for new engineering talent to do the job over at “Melbourne Design Center” in Florida. This happens to be the same place as AuthenTec, the mobile security firm that Apple bought last summer.
Coincidence? We think not.
The job listing also mentioned that the new engineer will “write low-level control firmware for ‘sensor ICs,’” so chances are this scanning technology for mobile devices may be in motion. It’s safe to say Apple is going to do something with this tech it purchased but when the public will see it in new products is anyone’s guess.
