Owners of the Virgin Mobile variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G will be receiving an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update today, which is available for install via Samsung’s Kies software for Mac or PC, or Samsung’s Simple Update Tool for PC users. This is great news for owners of the two-year old handset, which now will have all of the goodies Jelly Bean has to offer, such as Google Now, Project Butter, and updated notification features.

To install this update on your device, simply download the Samsung Simple Update Tool and follow the instructions here. The install is fairly painless, and definitely worth the effort. After the install, head to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device and look for Baseband Version, which should be GB28.

Happy installing, and don’t forget to back up your data!
