Caterpillar-branded CAT B15, which was announced during this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is now available in the UK (and we guess some other European countries). The ruggedized smartphone won’t win any miss contests, but that’s not the point anyway – the B15’s tough case is made to ensure it can survive a 1.8 metre drop onto concrete. Moreover, it’s also a dust- and water-proof phone capable of being submerged up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
Specs wise, CAT’s baby comes with MediaTek’s 1GHz MT6577 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4-inch Gorilla Glass-protected WVGA screen with “wet finger tracking” capability, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one, and 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded with microSD memory cards. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.
Finally, the price – you can get the unlocked Caterpillar CAT B15 for 299 GBP (about $457) from phone retailers like Unlocked-Mobiles. See for yourself whether your specific work conditions demand a device that is as tough as this one…
