A new, still unannounced ZTE smartphone marked as N988 has been caught in China while getting approval from the country’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center MIIT, making it ready to be sold in the world’s biggest smartphone market.
There are two things that make this device interesting: it comes with huge 5.7-inch screen and quad-core processor. The latter is especially intriguing as that processor could be the NVIDIA Tegra 4 as we know that ZTE will be one of the first vendors to launch a Tegra 4-powered device. On the other hand, this CPU could also be made by MediaTek or Qualcomm; we don’t have this confirmed and are just speculating at the moment.
We do know that the ZTE N988 comes with dual cameras, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and an ultra-slim, Grand S-like (as opposed to Grand Memo) body that makes it weigh just 110 grams. No carrier logos are visible on the phone, hinting us this bad boy could hit the Western hemisphere. We’ll make sure to follow this story and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?
