Ahh, HSN, previously known as the Home Shopping Network. The name brings back childhood memories of chain-smoking grandmas sitting around, painstakingly waiting for another John Wayne collector plate to grace the screen. Well, it seems times have changed, and HSN is now selling modern electronics. So why am I so surprised that Nokia’s new Lumia phone, the Nokia Lumia 521 is making its debut on HSN, HSN.com and via HSN mobile?
HSN audiences will get a chance to purchase the smartphone during HSN’s bi-annual Innovation Weekend, which will showcase the T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521, available for $149.95 bundled with a car charger, screen protector and free shipping. Flexpay is also available, so check your local listings for specific air times. (I’ve always wanted to say that!)
The Nokia Lumia 521 will be available at Microsoft Retail stores and Walmart starting on May 11th, and will retail for a price of $149.95. Wal-Mart’s model will be offered on its T-Mobile $30 per month unlimited web and text plan.
The Nokia Lumia 521 runs on the Windows Phone 8 platform and touts a 4″ screen, a 5MP camera with auto-focus and 720p HD video, Nokia apps such as Nokia Music, Cinemagraph, Creative Studio, Panorama, Smart Shoot, Maps and Transit.
So there you have it folks! Be sure to tune in to HSN on April 27th and grab Nokia’s new hot handset. What hot actor will they use for the presentation? I’m banking on Steven Seagal.
