BlueStacks, the company that makes software which brings Android apps to larger screens, has surpassed 10 million users, 4.2 million of which came online in the first quarter of this year. This in turn puts BlueStacks in second position behind Samsung and ahead of ASUS and Amazon.
BlueStacks launched their “App Player” software for PCs in March 2012, Mac version in June, while a special version for the Microsoft Surface was released in February 2013. Their application is downloaded by users in over 100 countries with a large user base across the United States, Europe, Korea, India, China, Japan and Brazil. In addition to downloads from Bluestacks.com, the company’s App Player also comes pre-loaded by several large device manufacturers like Lenovo, Asus, MSI and others.
The most popular application categories among BlueStacks users are casual gaming, messaging and lifestyle apps.
BlueStacks has received 15 million in venture funding from Andreessen-Horowitz, Qualcomm, Intel, Redpoint, Radar Partners, Ignition Partners, Citrix, AMD and others.
