Yesterday Nintendo released its a trailer for Sonic Lost Worlds. The Nintendo exclusive from Sega will be released on both the Wii U and the 3DS. While it was great to see so much gameplay footage in the trailer, it was pretty clear it all came from the Wii U version of the title.
Today Nintendo’s 3DS blog has given us our first glimpse at the handheld version of Sonic Lost Worlds, and it looks great! Unlike Sonic Colors, the 3DS version of the newest Sonic game is presented in 3D similar to its console counterpart. (I meant 3D rendered. Though it will be presented in stereoscopic 3D as well, I’m sure).
It’s always with trepidation that I approach a new Sonic game. Any fan of the speedy blue hedgehog knows that his post Sega Genesis games have been very hit or miss. We’ve all been very, very disappointed in the past. But the spiky needlemouse’s track record has improved in recent years. Both Sonic Colors and Generations were excellent. There is also the “3D Sonic is bad Sonic” camp, but I’ve greatly enjoyed some 3D outings.
So I’m allowing myself just a smidge of anticipation for this new, Super Mario Galaxy flavored Sonic game. Yesterday’s trailer and today’s screenshots have got me excited. Don’t mess this up Sega!
Oh, and Nintendo, don’t let Sega mess this up!
