Cecil, Rosa and all their friends are back for one more go around! Final Fantasy IV is out on Google Play today. Square Enix has finally released the fan favorite title for Android devices and you can relive the battle against Golbez on the go.
It looks like a pretty straight across port of the 2008 Nintendo DS version, which remade the game in 3D for the first time. It looked great 5 years ago, but it would have been nice for Square Enix to throw a coat of HD polish on it. Still, it’s a classic game and one that’s always near the top of “best of” lists for JRPG fans.
It’s $15.99 in the Google Play store, which is on the steep side. But this is a full-fledged, deep RPG that you can easily get 30 + hours of enjoyment out of. The DS carts are still going for nearly $30.00
From the Google Play description:
FINAL FANTASY IV was the first title to introduce the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, which has become synonymous with the series. It also saw the introduction of the Augment system, which enabled the transfer of abilities from other characters and gave players an edge in battles.
This iconic title is packed with other amazing features.

Key events unfold with spoken dialogue.– Deeply emotional portrayals
Characters go through visibly apparent emotional changes.– A brand new mapping feature
Players start with a completely blank dungeons map, adding an element of the unknown to the mix!– Jukebox
