FreedomPop announced today that it will soon add voice minutes and unlimited text messages to its free smartphone data plans. The new plan will be available to Android owners and will include 200 VoIP-based calling minutes. Calls and texts will not count against the user’s 500MB allotment of data. According to Fierce wireless, FreedomPop will also offer an unlimited calling option for $9.99 per month.
The MVNO also told publications like Forbes and TechCrunch that it will begin selling refurbished models of the HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy S III. Eventually, customers will be able to bring any Sprint phone they own over to the MVNO. FreedomPop launched on Clearwire’s WiMAX network and is slowly moving its service to Sprint’s EV-DO and LTE network.
