Huawei is bringing its low-end Ascend Y300 to the UK through Carphone Warehouse. The device will go on sale later today, offering quite a bang for 59.95 GBP (about $92) on PAYG. Actually, that’s the price for customers upgrading on prepay, while new customers will have to pay 10 GBP more to also buy a 10 GBP top-up. Alternatively, it’s available for free with plans starting at 7.50 GBP per month (though we see no reason why anyone would commit to a contract with the Y300).
The Ascend Y300 is described as a “super-powerful entry-level smartphone” that sits at the top-end of Huawei’s Y-series range of smartphones, targeted at the ‘youth’ market, as well as first-time smartphone users. It comes with a 4-inch WVGA screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and flash, and a 1730mAh battery which is further enhanced with Huawei’s own power saving technology to give power efficiencies of around 30%.
Software wise, Huawei’s baby runs Android 4.1 Jellybean with the company’s Emotion UI singing in top of it, allowing you to easily customize the tablet’s multiple homescreens…
