BlackBerry Q5 with AT&T-friendly 3G caught at the FCC

The new BlackBerry Q5 has been caught at the FCC while getting approved for the sale in the U.S. That said, while this particular model is ready to sing along AT&T’s 3G network (850 and 1900 MHz), we’re not sure it will actually be available with the carrier’s contract. Rather, this could be just a roaming application to make sure those travelling in the U.S. can freely use their Q5 on America’s wireless networks.

Or… AT&T may actually offer this mid-end BlackBerry smartphone, even though we thought it’s destined for the emerging markets of the world. When you think about it, many carriers (including AT&T) used to offer both BlackBerry Bold and Curve, making sure there’s a BlackBerry device for different kinds of users. Today, however, the situation is different and carriers tend to have an Android smartphone for the same purpose (targeting different user groups). So we’re not sure what to think of it. Waiting and seeing is pretty much all we can do at this time…
