Less than a month ago we’ve told you about TELUS’ plans to acquire Mobilicity. Well, that ain’t gonna happen any time soon with TELUS exercising its option to terminate the original acquisition plan.
Mobilicity will now pursue its previously announced recapitalization plan, which will be voted on by debtholders at a meeting on June 25, 2013. Moreover, the carrier will keep running its network like nothing has happened, delivering “an affordable wireless experience to its customers.”
So is this the end of the Mobilicity saga? I don’t think so. Sooner or later the Canadian mobile market will go through consolidation with Mobilicity likely be either acquired by one of the major players (Rogers, TELUS, Bell) or merging with some other smaller network. We’ll let you know when (if) we hear something new on this…
