Firefox OS-based ZTE Open has been caught at the FCC with all the right frequencies to sing along AT&T’s 3G network. In addition, this unit also packs a 1GHz single-core processor, 3.5-inch HVGA screen, 3.2-megapixel camera on the back, 256MB of RAM, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi and a 1,200mAh battery.

Now we doubt AT&T will launch the ZTE Open and this is likely a step Mozilla and ZTE needed to make so they can provide devices to their respective partners and app developers.

In addition to ZTE, Alcatel also has a Firefox OS phone (One Touch Fire), with few other companies — including LG, Huawei, Foxconn and Sony — also promising to launch smartphones powered by Mozilla’s mobile platform. Plus, let’s not forget Geeksphone which is already selling two different Firefox OS devices, Keon and Peak.
