There’s a novel product currently raising funds and awareness at Indiegogo. Called Root 101, it’s described as the most open source and affordable tablet on the market, running stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with no bloatware apps and skins. Moreover, if these guys get their way and manage to secure $185,000 in pre-orders, owners of this tablet will also have two custom ROMs to play with – CyanogenMod and Paranoid Android.

Specs wise, the Root 101 comes with a 10.1-inch IPS HD screen with 1280×800 resolution, AmLogic AML8726-MX Dual-Core 1.5GHz CPU coupled with Mali-400 Dual-Core GPU, 1GB of RAM, dual cameras (2MP on the back, VGA front-facing one), 16GB of expandable storage and a mini HDMI slot. There are also 2 speakers on the back, 7,000mAh battery and rear aluminum shell for strength and durability.

In order to secure your unit, you’ll have to pledge at least $169, which is the super early bird price, $179 (early bird) or $189 if you’re late to the game. Check out this page at Indiegogo for all additional details…
