It looks like HTC is working on an HTC One variant that would run Windows Phone 8 rather than Android. The information comes from Neowin, which claims that such a device could be launched at some point in the fall, featuring a 4- to 5-inch screen, “a mostly metal body,” and Windows Phone 8 GDR3. An Ultrapixel camera may also be included, but that’s still not confirmed.
The HTC One is the second best-selling high-end Android smartphone (after Samsung Galaxy S4) and it makes perfect sense for the Taiwanese company to rely on the popularity of its existing product to expand to other markets.
At present, HTC sells two Windows Phone devices, 8S and 8X, which sit in the shadow of Nokia’s Lumia range. The HTC One running Microsoft’s mobile platform could help shift the tide in HTC’s favor while at the same time helping the Redmond giant expand its market share…
