More and more people in China are using 3G phones and the number of 3G users is now north of 300 million. Needless to say, China Mobile accounts for the lion’s share of this number, accounting for around 129.40 million users with China Unicom and China Telecom following with 95.9 and 88 million users, respectively. In total, that’s 309.5 million users, leaving a ton of room for further growth.
At the end of last year, there was an estimated 160 million active users of Android, and 80 million of iOS; it’s anticipated that there will be 300 million Android users by the end of this year.
When it comes to 4G, Chinese carriers are working on it with market leader (China Mobile) preparing for the nationwide roll-out in October after performing many trials for over a year. As always, it will be interesting to watch LTE number from the world’s most populous countries growing like it’s nobody’s business. We’ll get back to you when we have some interesting tidbit to add…
