HTC Confirms The One S Won’t Receive Android 4.2.2 Update

T-Mobile's HTC One S getting Jelly Bean update as we speak

We have some bad news for those of you who are rocking the HTC One S — the popular handset won’t be receiving any more Android updates going forward.

HTC recently confirmed this in the statement below:

We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense.  We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.

The HTC One S will remain on Android 4.1 and Sense 4 for the remainder of its life, but that shouldn’t make you too worried. Not only is the One S still a solid handset in its own right, but we can also imagine that the device will receive further updates going forward via custom ROMs from the developer community. After all, if the HTC G1 can rock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in any facet, you can bet your ass that the HTC One S will be in good hands.

Any HTC One S owners looking to flash a custom ROM going forward or are you happy with it as it is?

When I used the One S it was pretty fast and I thought, well, this is a good phone to get upgrades for, it seems not a low end device, but I see HTC thinks otherwise.
