Sony’s announced this months line up of titles that Playstation Plus subscribers can grab for free. As usual there are some real gems.
The major release of the line up is definitely Battlefield 3. The Frostbite 2 powered war simulation was a huge hit. It’s a great time to grab a download if you don’t already own it, and get your chops up for the next-gen, Frostbite 3 sequel!
There are some great classic games included as well. SEGA’s Dreamcast cult classic Jet Set Radio will be free for Plus subscribers and its been remade in glorious HD. The PSP and Vita will get SNK’s classic run ‘n gun game, Metal Slug XX. Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee’s HD port will be available for free as well. While I’ve always thought of it as an ok game but kind of a low light in a great series, it’s worth picking up for free!
Rounding out the line up is Dokuro for the PS Vita. The only original title in the lineup, it sounds like a quirky good time.
Dokuro is a stoic, little skeleton who is a mere peon in the Dark Lord’s army. One fateful day he witnesses his master returning with a helplessly abducted Princess he intends to force into marriage. At once smitten by her plight, Dokuro resolves to free her from the Dark Lord’s treacherous, monster-infested castle. Along the way, he happens upon a mystical blue potion with the power to transform him into a dashing Hero tragically, this is the only time the Princess can witness his noble endeavors.
The Playstation Plus Instant Game Collection is really holding it down, despite incursions by Microsoft’s Games with Gold and Steam’s free offerings. Consistently Sony is dropping gig upon gig of quality, and often fairly new game content to folks willing to pony up $5 a month for the privilege. Any PS3 owners out there grabbing these?
