The hot new HTC Butterfly S may not sport a metal body like HTC One, but it has comparable (read: pretty much the same) specs and a slightly larger 5-inch screen (vs 4.7-inch one). That’s why we’re glad to see it hitting few stores in the US and Taiwan, offering yet another option for today’s high-end smartphone users.
The problem, however, is that it’s still pretty expensive. For instance, Overseas Electronics is selling it for $850, while those shopping through eBay will have to pay even more – $900. Negri Electronics has a better deal ($770) but at the moment they’re still in the “pre-order phase” with no indication when the phone will start shipping.
That was the U.S. part; as for Taiwan, users there can grab the Butterfly S for some $765 through at least three retailers.
We’re hoping that in the near future the price will go down and that HTC may even corner few carriers to sell this powerful smartphone on contract (when users will be able to buy it for less with a two-year term)…
