Sprint and Samsung have started rolling out an update for the Galaxy S4 that includes a number of changes. The 357MB-heavy download packs several important capabilities alongside few smaller tweaks, including:
- Ability to move select (though not all) apps from internal memory to the microSD card
- The addition of Samsung Knox – to make the device safe for use by business and government customers
- Smart Pause toggle in the notification panel
- A legibility setting for the display
- Status bar transparency can now work with custom wallpapers
- The addition of a briefing app, and an SPDclient app
On the downside, the addition of the business-friendly Samsung Knox may lock the bootloader to make the phone safer for enterprise users. In that sense if you like running custom ROMs on your phone, perhaps you should postpone installing this update. Perhaps savvy hackers will find their way to hack the bootloader, or you can wait for the next version of your favorite custom ROM to be unveiled. It’s your call…
