Samsung has teamed-up with Boingo Wireless to provide Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0, 8.0 and 10.1) Wi-Fi owners in North America with free Wi-Fi access to Boingo’s vast network of 35,000 hotspots across the continent, plus Mexico. This includes major airports, shopping centers, stadiums, restaurants and even Manhattan subway stations.
And while we applaud the deal we can’t help but note that existing Galaxy Note 10.1 owners were left behind. We do realize this is part of Sammy’s marketing to move more new tablets off the shelf, but still – they should provide something similar to existing customers who paid a hefty premium for a 10-inch tablet.
To help take advantage of this offer, users are advised to install Boingo’s Wi-Finder app to easily locate Wi-Fi hotspots around them. And thanks to the built-in Virtual Private Network client, users are assured security as they surf… though I don’t think that will prevent NSA from picking up the data they want, but that’s another story…
