Microsoft should release a smaller version of Surface Pro

It could be me – but I’ve no problems typing on smaller keyboards. And I would like a smaller laptop or tablet with full keyboard, like Microsoft’s Surface Pro. I also need a desktop operating system to get things done while on the go.

Don’t get me wrong – I also like my Android devices, Nexus 10 and LG Optimus G Pro, but more often than not I need a “real” computer to complete some of the tasks. So I’m carrying my laptop with me, which is pretty light by itself. But I want more. Or that’s less…

The Microsoft Surface Pro is pretty cool device despite the fact that Windows 8 is “still not there” — as many of the existing apps aren’t optimized for touch input. However, I would like it to be even smaller. Actually, the existing Surface Pro can stay as it is; Microsoft should just release a new petite model with a 7- or 8-inch screen for guys/gals like me. That Type Cover is also a must.

Moreover, I would like that smaller Surface Pro to be a powerful device, boasting (at least) 4GB of RAM coupled with Intel’s Core i5 or i7 processor. Tablets like the Acer Iconia W3 are cool, but as far as I’ve understood – they lack the power to run things smoothly when you’re running few different apps at the same time. Hence, these devices can’t really replace your laptop.

I’m sure I’m not the only one craving for something like this. What do you say?

    I want this too. 🙂

the Acer Iconia W3 is on sale and is the first 8 inch Windows tablet that should have given you what you want but many reviewers say that Acer failed to deliver because they made the sad mistake of Putting a grainy cheap screen on this 8 inch Windows 8 tablet. Microsoft is coming out with a “Mini Surface” Tablet I hope that they do not make the same mistake Acer made and give Folks a bad display screen. Another Microsoft OEM is also going to deliver a 7 or 8 inch Windows 8 mini tablet to the market place. let hope that they deliver a good product to the market place. YOO ACER save your windows 8 W3 and put a decent IPS screen on it. Please remember people will pay the extra cost for a Quality screen take note that if your device’s screen looks like crap people will think it’s crap.

  • Surface PRO mini would be harder to sell I’d imagine. Surface RT mini, however, I believe is already slated and I will definitely be buying. The Surface Pro mini is a turn off because for most desktop apps you’d want at least that 10″ screen. Additionally it’d be hard for them to pack as much power into a small form. The Pro is already and I5 with 4GB and getss 5 hours battery life tops, really. A smaller pro would have to have an i3 (or maybe I’m wrong with the new haskell chipset) but it would still not be able to house as large a battery. Maybe a couple years down the road but I don’t see this happening any time soon due to at least the hardware aspect and battery life. They need to work on getting the next gen pros to have 8+ hour of battery life. Just my 2 cents. Feel free to chime in.
