Google has ambitious plans for the next-gen Nexus 7 which could be launched in the near future with some Taiwan-based vendors estimating the search giant will be able to move up to 8 million units. On the other hand, supply chain makers have indicated that the volume will be difficult to reach because many vendors will launch competing products.
It is said that the next Nexus 7 could feature a 7-inch 1980×1200 pixel display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras, as well as a retail price of around $199-249 for a Wi-Fi only model.
The same sources that aren’t bullish on the new Nexus 7 prospects argue that when the original 7-inch tablet was launched, it didn’t have as solid competitors as it will have today. We tend to believe this, but then again – Nexus 7 is still one of the best 7-inch tablets you can buy for less than $200. We’ll see whether Google and ASUS will be able to repeat that success…
