Sprint is gearing up to launch its first Tri-band LTE devices later this week. The wireless carrier announced today that it would start selling the MiFi 500 LTE, Netgear Zing Mobile Hotspot, and the Netgear 341U USB Modem on July 19th. The three devices support LTE on the 800MHz, 1900MHz and 2.5GHz bands.
Sprint is rolling out LTE on the 1900MHz band and will gradually add support for 800MHz, which was liberated when it shut down its Nextel iDEN network last month. The carrier also is deploying LTE on the 2.5GHz band using spectrum it obtained when it acquired Clearwire and its WiMAX network.
The MiFi 500 and the Netgear Zing Mobile Hotspot will retail for $49.99, while the Netgear 341U USB Modem will set you back a mere $19.99. All prices are after a $50 mail-in rebate and require a new service agreement. You can find out more about the MiFi 500 LTE in this press release on Sprint’s website. The two Netgear devices, the Zing Mobile Hotspot, and 341U USB Modem, are detailed in a separate press release on Sprint’s website.
