It looks like Sony is making good on its promise to release its SmartWatch 2 to the world during the month of September, and according to UK retailer Clove, the device will be released on September 9th and will run for £100.00 (about $150).
The SmartWatch 2 features a 1.6 inch 220×176 resolution display that becomes a nice companion to your Android smartphone. The NFC-enabled watch easily establishes a Bluetooth connection with your smartphone to receive notifications and more.
This time around, Sony gave its latest smartwatch the same water-resistant capabilities that we’ve seen on some of its latest smartphones. Given that the watch will likely see more water contact than your smartphone if you’re outside on a rainy day, it’s water resistance powers are more than welcome.
The smartwatch market is hardly a booming one, but Sony is already ahead of the game. The SmartWatch 2 is a nifty piece of tech that should have those looking for a companion device to their smartphones pretty excited.
If you own Sony’s original SmartWatch, remember that it’s not completely being put out to pasture, as the company recently announced that it’s giving it the open-source treatment. So now you at least have something to do with it if you decide to upgrade.
