Nokia will soon release firmware updates for its range of Windows Phone devices to include Bluetooth 4.0 support to the mix. Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) will also come included, enabling Lumia smartphone owners to pair their devices with a range of accessories, some of which may be unveiled by the Finnish company.
According to The Verge, the majority of Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 range will be updated — including the Lumia 820 and 920, as well as lower-end models like Lumia 520, 620 and 720 — since most of them already ship with chipsets that support Bluetooth 4.0.
As for the mentioned Nokia accessories, it is said they’ll work in pair with Nokia services, some of which may rely on the existing services such as Here Maps and Here Drive.
The Bluetooth 4.0 update will be delivered to Nokia devices as part of the forthcoming “Amber” update in the coming weeks.
