It looks as though the next version of Apple’s iPad mini will be sporting a retina display, according to a recent report from DigiTimes. The report states that LG Display, the supplier of the retina screen for Apple, has avoided any production problems and is manufacturing the screen as we speak, putting the iPad on course for a 2013 release.
LG expects to ship 2.5 to 3 million 9.7 inch panels a month in the third quarter of this year, with 1 to 2 million of the panels being utilized for Apple’s fifth-generation iPad. The panels destined for the fifth-generation iPad are rumored to come with a 2048 x 1536 resolution.
This news is still conjecture at this point, but hopefully we will be seeing the iPad mini with a retina display coming later this year.
