The Amiga computer from Commodore was known for its games, with several impressive titles. Now a selection of Amiga games will be coming to Google Play, so prepare for a blast from the past.
The Amiga was a computer platform by Commodore that came out in the late 1980s. It gained great popularity in Europe and had a smaller but devoted user base in the United States. It had hundreds of game titles. Amiga Games has been releasing these classics for modern PCs and smartphones and consoles.
Amiga Games was recently acquired by Los Angeles distribution company, Writers’ Group Film Corp. Along with the company, Writers group now has the rights to over 30o Amiga games. Now the company has announced they’ll start releasing touchscreen enabled ports on Google Play beginning this holiday season.
“Android is the fastest growing platform on the planet and we’re excited to be in Google’s marketplace,” said Writer’s Group CEO, Eric Mitchell. “These developments will further strengthen our competitive advantage in the gaming marketplace. AGI’s classic titles focus on delivering a quality retro-gaming experience for the consumer, so I am very optimistic about our new distribution arrangements.”
So get ready to spend your holiday vacation playing some forgotten Amiga gems!
