Samsung has started making 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM modules for smartphones (and tablets). As you would imagine, this will be the industry’s first 3GB DRAM made for mobile devices and could be found in the soon-to-be-launched Galaxy Note III (as we’ve already heard before).

The Korean company is using six 20nm class 4Gb LPDDR3 chips with the single package measuring only 0.8mm high, freeing up space for a larger capacity battery and thin smartphone design. According to Samsung, each pin offers a data transfer speed of 2,133Mbps.

Now we don’t know whether the next Galaxy Note will pack 3GB of RAM or not, but we’re sure that many flagship devices which will be launched during 2014 will rock that amount of memory, potentially allowing even bigger apps to run on our phones and tablets. Can’t wait. 😉
