BlackBerry is bringing the Q5 to its own backyard. Yup, the low-end BlackBerry OS 10-based smartphone will be available in Canada on August 13, with users being able to grab it from a number of carriers, including Bell, Fido, Koodo, Sasktel, TELUS, and Virgin Mobile Canada; as well as retail stores like Best Buy Canada, Future Shop, Target, TBooth Wireless, The Mobile Shop, The Source, Walmart and WIRELESSWAVE.
As you probably already know, the BlackBerry Q5 is a watered-down version of the Q10, boasting a slightly slower dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and worse 5-megapixel camera on the back. In comparison, the Q10 has a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU and an 8-megapixel camera.
Those specs come with a lower price tag and BlackBerry’s hoping to reach the segments of the population who don’t want to pay the premium for the Q10 but still want that ever-useful QWERTY keyboard.
The Q5 will be available in black on most carriers, with Pure Red model being exclusive to Virgin Mobile Canada.
