More than third of mobile gamers download a game because their friends recommended it

SessionM did a report about mobile game app users to discover what draws them to download a game, and what kind of behavior they display while playing. Some snippets of the report include:

  • 36% of mobile gamers download a game because their friends recommended it. In comparison, good reviews attract 23% of users to download it.
  • Puzzle-games are the most popular game category.
  • 42% of gamers stop playing a game because they get bored of it, but 53% would stick with it if the game included a reward/loyalty component.
  • Only 22% of gamers will return to the game after the first visit.
