Microsoft launched a series of Bing apps for its mobile platform, Windows Phone 8. These apps are already available for the desktop systems running Windows 8 and we guess making their mobile counterparts fits into the Redmond giant’s strategy to bring the two platforms (mobile and desktop) closer together.
The new apps include Bing News, Bing Weather, Bing Sports and Bing Finance; and they look like their desktop counterparts providing users with quick access to the latest news, weather conditions and forecasts, sports news, and stock information, respectively. Of course, you can pin the bits of data to your phone’s homescreen to get a quick glance at the most important information.
Bing News allows you to add, edit and reorder sources, and there are also notifications for breaking news; Bing Finance is the typical stocks and shares app with a customizable watch list and a Live Tile support; With Bing Sports you can pick favorite teams across NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, the English Premier League and keep up with the scores; finally Bing Weather includes hourly and daily forecasts, with support for multiple places that can be pinned to the Start Screen.
All in all, if you own a Windows Phone 8 smartphone, you’ll want to get these apps. Hit the links below and take it from there.
