According to SamMobile, Samsung will be revealing its smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note III on September 4th at IFA in Berlin. The Galaxy Gear will act as a peripheral to Samsung devices. The Galaxy Gear (SM-V700) is still shrouded in mystery, with no details on what specs the device will be touting or what exactly the device will look like. A patent filing and recent renders show a device with a flexible display, which could possibly be the case.
Samsung is known for its flexible OLED technology, and recently bought a German manufacturer Novaled to help keep up with demand for OLED devices. This could mean that Samsung has enough production capacity to produce the small flexible OLED screens, although Samsung seems to be focusing more on OLED screens for televisions.
With September 4th less than a month away, we don’t have long to wait until Samsung puts its cards on the table.
