Mobile data and network analytics company WeFi has been keeping an eye on Wi-Fi and cellular network speeds across the United States since the start of 2013. Just recently, they’ve unveiled their findings on both upload and download speeds on iOS and Android devices for the second quarter of the year. Some of the trends they’re seeing include:
- In Q2, the US consumed four times as much mobile data over Wi-Fi than in Q1!
- Wi-Fi bandwidth is increasing 14.5% per quarter
- Cell bandwidth increase of 10.7% per quarter
- Instagram app usage spiked by 78% from Q1, Facebook seeing only a 15% increase
And that’s apparently just a start. According to WeFi, we’re going to see Wi-Fi speeds exceed 120Mpbs by 2020. In the meantime, here’s that infographic. Let us know if you have any thoughts to share…
