Cologne, Germany’s Gamescom event is rapidly approaching and the gaming industry’s biggest names are getting ready to show off the latest in interactive entertainment. Sony dropped a bomb today, saying the company will finally reveal its release plans for the PS4 at its Gamescom event tomorrow, August 20th.
The event is scheduled for 18:000 BST and will be livestreamed on Gamescom’s site. Along with the PS4 release information, Sony will have announcements for both the PS3 and PS Vita. The rumor mill’s suggested that both a redesigned Vita and PS3 could be in the works, and a PS4/Vita bundle could also be on the table.
Speaking of rumors, the internets have been blowing up with rumors that Sony might be pushing its PS4 release date up to October 21st. If the rumor is true, Sony would get a major leg up in the console war against Microsoft’s Xbox One – especially given recent news that the One’s release will be delayed in several markets. Still, a release date so early seems unlikely given all the usual supply chain pressures that face a console launch.
We’ll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings!
