We’ve already talked about the upcoming HTC Zara. What we haven’t told you is the phone’s “final” name. Now we’re hearing it will be sold as Desire 601, sporting a specs sheet that’s comparable to the existing Desire 600 smartphone.

It is said that the Zara / Desire 601 will come with a 4.5-inch qHD screen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Beats Audio, front-facing speakers, and 8GB of expandable storage. We’re still not sure when HTC will officially launch this handset but the chances are this will be a short wait. Some rumors suggest Sprint will get to offer the Desire 601 in the States.

Meanwhile, we’re also hearing that a “Mini” version of Zara will be unveiled. The HTC Zara Mini, which is apparently internally known as Z3, may too get the “Desire” moniker at the end. As for the specs, they are said to include a 4.3-inch WVGA screen, dual SIM capability, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, and 8GB of expandable storage.

We’ll get back to you as soon as we have something new to add here. Stay tuned…
