Sony Announces Revamped Playstation Vita Handheld

Just weeks after announcing a price drop for its PS Vita in the U.S. and Europe, Sony has revealed a new version of is PS Vita handheld gaming console. The unit, known as the Vita PCH-2000 comes in at 15% lighter and 20 percent thinner than the previous Vita model. Sony has also improved battery life, with the new unit packing an extra hour of battery life.

Sony has tweaked the hardware of the Vita a bit, giving it a micro-USB charger and 1GB of internal storage. The screen has gone from LCD to OLED, and a slew of colors will be available as well. Vita colors consist of pink, black, blue, grey, lime green and yellow.

The new PS Vita will be available in Japan on October 10th for 18,980 yen which is around $190. Sony has not announced when the new Vita will be rolling out to other parts of the world.
