China Unicom iPhone reservations cross the 100K mark

The new iPhone 5c and 5s will go on sale in China the same day it launches in the US. And apparently Chinese users are already flocking in numbers to secure their units, with China Unicom claiming that reservations have crossed the 100,000 mark.

China Unicom, which is the country’s second largest operator, announced the volume of registrations on its official account with Sina’s Weibo microblog, but it failed to disclose pricing plans for the handsets which are due to go on sale September 20.

While all this is cool, Apple keeps eyeing for a deal with China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator by subscriber numbers. As I’m writing this, the carrier has more than 700 users and Tim Cook & Co. definitely wants a piece of that action. Talks between the two parties are under way and we are eagerly waiting to read about the results…
