AT&T is launching FiLIP, a smart watch that allows parents to easily monitor their kids’ whereabouts. The device is made to focus only on the features that parents want, including location, voice calling and direct messaging to their child. The parent remains in control at all times through an app on their smartphone, including the designation of five trusted contacts with whom the child can communicate. In addition, FiLIP also allows parents to set Safe Zones, triggering a notification if the child enters or leaves a designated area, and features an intelligent emergency procedure to locate the child and put them in touch with family if needed.
According to Chris Penrose, senior VP at AT&T’s Emerging Devices unit, FiLIP is exactly the “type of device for which we formed the Emerging Devices team at AT&T,” one that solves a “real problem for parents and make their lives easier.”
Yeah we dig the idea even though FiLIP looks kinda bulky to carry around at all times. What do you think?
As for the pricing and service plans, these vital information will be unveiled in the coming months…
