HTC is working on another update to its Sense UI. Version 5.5 has been leaked thanks to the ROM maker mike1986 who shared screenshots of the upcoming version of the launcher.
Perhaps the biggest change included in this release is (will be) the ability to turn off BlinkFeed. While we’ve always liked this particular app, we were amazed HTC decided to make it mandatory. Some of the users complained about this, and the next major release of the Sense UI will allow folks to simply remove BlinkFeed from the home screens. BlinkFeed will get few additional news categories and a custom topics tab, so you may want to keep it, after all.
In addition, Sense 5.5 will also sport a customizable Quick Settings, enabling users to re-arrange items as they fancy, and a slightly improved Sense keyboard that got emoticons support.
Finally, there’s the improved camera app that adds “Panorama+” and “Dual Capture” shots, as well as slightly tweaked recent apps page with a bit larger icons.
Unfortunately, we’re not sure when HTC will launch the new version of Sense UI. Given that existing Android 4.3 updates are rolling out with Sense 5.0, the chances are we’ll have to wait for another few months or so to get it. Hopefully some other features will be added in the meantime…
