Pinterest has teamed-up with Telefonica Digital to preload its Android app and widget to millions of the carrier’s smartphone users in Europe and Latin America.
According to MobileWorldLive, the scheme will start with O2 UK, which will be the first carrier to offer the “exclusive Pinterest widget,” with other operators from the Telefonica group following shortly.
The mentioned widget shows most popular posted items while also providing a personal feed and instant notifications to signed-in users.
In addition, the application will also be available via O2 Recommends and the Android widget folder, along with other channels.
Telefonica is Pinterest’s first operator partner, and the one that could help the company get new users. Presuming this ends up working, we’re sure that Pinterest will be strucking similar deals with other networks.
“Telefonica is one of the world’s most advanced communications companies, and together we can provide a one-of-a-kind mobile experience to new and existing pinners around the globe,” said Pinterest head of operations, Don Faul.
Pinterest has seen a 130% increase in monthly active users from Latin America and the UK since the beginning of the year.
