Verizon Wireless is launching a neat pilot program in Philadelphia. No longer will you have to wait for more than few hours to get the phone or tablet you ordered from the carrier’s website. If you place an order by 10 am Monday through Friday, you’ll receive your device by 7 pm.
As I’ve said, the program starts with Philadelphia, with New York City, Dallas, San Francisco and Pittsburgh coming next. The price is set at $19.99, which is just 5 bucks more than the priority overnight delivery fee of $14.99.
Verizon is hoping that the new program will attract “affluent millennials,” which includes consumers aged 18-34 with six-digit incomes. This group is said to be 56% more likely than the average online consumer to opt for same-day delivery.
The plan is to take advantage of local inventory and proximity to enable shipments from company-operated communication stores. We love it, how about you?
