Apple - iPad

Just hours after Apple’s iPad announcements, T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere has confirmed that the magenta carrier will be offering the iPad Air with WiFi and cellular on November 1st, and the iPad mini With Retina Display later in November.

Legere also tweeted that T-Mobile will be offering a number of data plans that will take advantage of T-Mobile’s LTE network. According to Apple’s website, the iPad Air with WiFi and Cellular starts at $629 for the 16GB version, $729 for the 32GB, $829 for the 64GB model and $929 for the gargantuan 128GB model.

T-Mobile will be offering a few different data plans for the iPad Air, with starting with a free 200MB plan, 2.5GB for $30 a month and 4.5GB for $40 a month. The plans require no long-term contracts, and are month to month.

Both of the new iPads now include a retina display and the A7 64-bit processor, and are thinner and lighter than the previous iPad models.

If you are on their new plans, there is no need to buy one from them, just get the wifi model. Because current plans come with free hot spot, 2.5GB to be exact. That’s more than enough for most users.

the reason to get the t mobile free cellular plan is for GPS (which you do not get real GPS unless you buy the cellular model) and find my iPhone. if your iPad is WiFi only and you lose it, you have to wait for it to come into range of a WiFi hot spot, and connect to it. which if you think about it , is kind of hard to do, when it is locked. also with WiFi your location is a best guess based on Apple’s and Skyhook’s WiFi database. it will only know its location if the WiFi hotspots in the area of the iPad is in their databases. if your iPad never leaves the house and is covered under some kind of insurance against loss or theft, then you probably just save the extra $129 on the cellular model.

ios 7 is great, where a lost or stolen device can’t be activated, but in order to find it, it still needs an internet connection to tell you where it is. they will email you when it is located, but it might take a while with a WiFi only model
