The Carphone Warehouse unveils £49 Android Jelly Bean tablet – Avoca 7

Avoca 7 tablet

If Tesco can do it, so can Carphone Warehouse. The popular phone / mobile device retailer unveiled its own tablet called Avoca 7, which is selling for meager 49 GBP (about $79). That price, however, won’t get you a decent device. Yeah, it runs Android Jelly Bean but other than that – it’s a tablet worth avoiding. Big time.

The Avoca 7 comes with a 7-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) screen, 1GHz single-core chip, 512MB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, 3,000 mAh battery, and 8GB of expandable storage. Size wise, it measures 192x117x10.7 mm, and has a weight of 350 grams.

See why I’m saying you don’t need this product? Yeah, it’s cheap and your 5-year old kid won’t mind playing with it… for some time. But consider adding another 30-50 GBP and get something better that will keep your child satisfied for more than few months.

While we like the fact that hardware is getting cheaper with the day, we can’t but help you make better buying decisions. And trust me when I say that this isn’t the device you want…
