MetroPCS has a new waterproof phone in its portfolio – Kyocera Hydro XTRM. The Japanese company is best known for making some of the toughest and most durable devices out there, and XTRM is no exception by any means. The IP57-certified phone offers protection against dust and water, while its MIL-STD-810G rated body will successfully absorb many shocks you through at it.
Specs wise, we’re talking about a rather unimpressive device though that’s usually the case with such products. It rocks Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz dual-core chip, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 4-inch WVGA screen, and a 2,000 mAh battery, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is running the show.
MetroPCS is selling the Kyocera Hydro XTRM for $169 plus tax. That, of course, is the off-contract price that comes with no strings attached… though you’re best off picking some plan from MetroPCS to use it with XTRM…
