The Hunger Games trilogy of books has spawned film adaptations that have remained surprisingly faithful to the story. The tie-in marketing is another story, and all manner of absurdly tasteless things have had Hunger Games branding hastily tacked onto them. Now there’s a new tie-in endless runner app out for iOS and Android – and it’s actually pretty fun!
The dangers of technology and mass-media feature prominently in the dystopian tale, so a smartphone app is natural fit! The game puts you in the shoes of a district tribute, running for your life in the titular Panem (the post apocalyptic North America of the Hunger Games). Avoid the many deadly obstacles of the Hunger Games for as long as possible, unlocking high scores and items. Of course the game is free-to-play (for more information, see every game made since 2012) so you can spend money to unlock things early.
It’s a very fun endless runner, and Hunger Games fans will love all the little references to the movies. You can grab Hunger Games: Panem Run on iTunes and the Google Play Store. Lionsgate Films announced the tie-in app recently. For more information, here’s the press release:
LOS ANGELES, CA, and SANTA MONICA, CA, Nov. 12, 2013 – Reliance Games, a leading international mobile game studio, and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, are bringing the next chapter in The Hunger Games saga to mobile devices.
