Nokia made sure Asha phone users have a solid app catalog at their disposal. The company’s latest gig is Viber, which was made to work on Nokia Asha 308, Asha 310 and Asha 311.
Just like a “regular” smartphone version, Viber for Asha allows users to text each other either via 3G or Wi-Fi. The ability to attach photos comes included, and so do group messaging and voice calls (which again work over 3G and Wi-Fi).
Once you start Viber on your Asha, the application will automatically sync your contacts, so that all your friends who are already using the social messaging service are added to the phonebook. And make it easy to start chatting.
Pretty cool though most of our readers, smartphone users, won’t be “affected” by this. People in emerging markets, on the other hand, will appreciate the ability to “Viber with their friends,” saving minutes and texts along the way…
UPDATE: It’s not just Viber. WhatsApp is now also available for Nokia Asha feature phones!
